Employee turnover refers to the number or ratio of employees who leave a company for any given reason within a certain period. A company with a high staff turnover usually has underlying issues that need to be dealt with in order to curb further resignations or dismissals of staff members. It may be hard sometimes for management to admit that the problem may be emanating from the processes and systems that they have in place but when the numbers keep dwindling and there is a steady stream of people in and out in any given month, then it is vital to admit that there is a problem and deal with it effectively.
The first step in dealing with high staff turnover is to find the root cause of the problem; this is best done by talking to the people on the ground and not simply those at managerial level as there are issues they may not be aware of. If the employees feel uncomfortable airing their issues in a face-to-face setting, they should be encouraged to submit anonymous feedback and suggestions either through dropping them in a suggestion box or an untraceable online system.
